Growing Food in an Urban Setting: A Virtual Program

Learn all about container gardens, urban farming, composting, and more in this collaboration between Forsyth County Public Library and NC Cooperative Extension. If you have a deck space, smaller yard space or even a window box, you can have a flower, vegetable or herb garden, and containers are an easy way to learn if you have never grown your own food before.

Session 1 - Saturday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. - Introduction and site evaluation. Preparing a space for containers

Session 2 - Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. - Building healthy soil, planting calendars, making a garden plan

Session 3 - Wednesday Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. - Planting day! Overview of selected crops, making labels, watering plans, and more

Session 4 - Saturday Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. - Pests & Disease

Session 5 - Wednesday Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. - Harvesting, food safety, summer gardening, and evaluation
