Thank You for a Great Summer Reading, Walkertown Community

Announcing the 2020 Summer Reading Winners at Walkertown Branch Library!

Although our Summer Reading looked a bit different this year, we want to take the time to thank our community for their support in June and July and to congratulate our Summer Reading drawing winners. Each winner received a gift card to Barnes and Noble, sponsored by the Friends of the Walkertown Library.
More information on each of our winners and the programs we offered over the summer can be found below.

Dominik Hanson is the winner for
the kids readers drawing.

Dominik and his familiy have been visiting the library often for many years, so he was excited to hear he had won the summer reading drawing this year. His mom told us he didn't even fill out as many of the reading logs as he could have! Dominik was planning which books he was going to get from Barnes and Noble while on his way to pick up the prize.

Tyler McKinney is the winner for
the teen readers drawing.

Tyler and his family became familiar names over the summer, even while the library was closed to the public, due to the number of holds that came in for them every week. He enjoyed reading the Hardy Boys series this summer and checked out a new mystery novel when he came in to pick up his prize.

Emma Tucker is the winner for
the adult readers drawing.

When Emma came to Walkertown Branch Library to collect her prize, she brought along a great support group, her kids Ada (7), Macy (4) and Jude (7 months). Although she didn't have as much time to read this summer as she would have liked, she's looking forward to learning how to download free eBooks from the library so she can continue the Outlander Series, which has a long waitlist at the library.

Although we couldn't meet in person most of the summer, we enjoyed our virtual programs!

During the summer, we were able to offer pre-recorded crafts for kids and Zoom Storytime, which will continue through the school year.

You can find our pre-recorded Aztec mask craft by visiting this Vimeo video. Our pre-recorded Maya calendar craft by visiting this Vimeo video. For the online concert "Daydream in Three Songs" with Savannah Cribbs visit this Vimeo video.

Information about our Zoom Storytime, including how to sign up for continuing sessions and a list of books we've already read, can be found by visiting this page.
