The Walkertown Branch Library Afterthoughts Book Club will meet in October to discuss Peter Taylor’s 1987 Pulitzer Prize winning novel “A Summons to Memphis.” This slim novel is narrated by Philip Carver, an unflappable New York City book editor. When his widowed father suddenly begins courting (much) younger women, Carver is called back to his hometown of Memphis by his desperate sisters. Fans of other Southern writers such as Eudora Welty, James Agee, and William Faulkner will particularly enjoy Taylor’s take on the classic subject of Southern family drama.

The Afterthoughts Book Club meets in the Walkertown Branch Library Conference Room. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome to join us for a friendly and interesting discussion!
