LHS presents "From Time to Time in North Carolina" with award-winning author Randell Jones

“History does not repeat itself, but it often rhymes,” Mark Twain is credited with saying.

On Monday, March 19, you will have a chance to consider that possibility for yourself with “From Time to Time in North Carolina.” Award-winning history author and storyteller Randell Jones will share some remarkable stories from North Carolina’s past at the March meeting of the Lewisville Historical Society at the Lewisville Branch Library. Some stories might seem to resonate with current events. Other nearly-forgotten tales come to mind on significant anniversaries, and others are just wonderful stories about noteworthy folks living out exceptional episodes in their interesting lives. The stories are inspiring, thought-provoking, and delightfully entertaining, although a few of them might make you wince a bit. “Did we really do that?”

Forsyth County audiences have enjoyed Randell’s talks in recent years on Daniel Boone and on the Battle of Kings Mountain; and, he thinks his talk “Famous and Infamous Women of North Carolina” might have opened a can of worms in a few local households. In any case, his March 12 presentation at the Lewisville Library will surely get everyone talking.

Randell’s newest release, “From Time to Time in North Carolina” includes 45 brief stories of mostly North Carolina history brought to mind and brought to bear by events then-current at the time he wrote them. Each of the stories appeared on the editorial pages of the Winston-Salem Journal in recent years. He will share more than a few of these stories in his talk and hopes to have everyone taking even more pride in calling North Carolina home.

Randell’s presentation, “From Time to Time in North Carolina,” begins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19 at the Lewisville Library. Randell will have copies of his several books available for purchase and autographing. Visit his webpage to learn more about his books.
