Thank You Walkertown Community for your Summer Reading Support
We at the Walkertown Library would like to express our gratitude to all those who attended, volunteered and/or supported our Summer Reading programs this year. Once again, our community was enthusiastic about attending and using the services at Walkertown this summer.
Thousands of materials were borrowed, thanks to NC Cardinal, from all over North Carolina between June and July, and eighteen families enjoyed our Sci-Works passes during that time. More than 600 reading logs were taken and around 440 logs were returned.
Thanks to the wonderful generosity of the Friends of the Walkertown Library, we were able to bring back some of your favorite programs like Ronald McDonald and The Balloon Lady (Donna Pruett) and offer new programs like Professor Whizzpop Going for Gold Show and Cleaning with Essential Oils. Our room capacity was put to the test with several of these wonderful programs. All in all, we were able to offer 143 programs this summer with 2,560 community attendees.
Last but not least, we'd like to congratulate our 2016 Summer Reading winners from Walkertown. Readers who returned their reading logs were entered into a drawing for one of three $25 gift cards to Barnes & Noble. Contestants were divided up by age 0-12, 13-17 and 18+ to increase their chances of winning. We appreciate everyone who participated.
Caroline, 2nd grader, spent 20 hours this summer reading books from the Walkertown Library. Congratulations Caroline!
Nathan, a home-schooler, is an avid reader of fiction and receives a lot of motivation from his parents. Congratulations Nathan!
Nancy lives in Winston-Salem, but has made Walkertown her home library. "I love Walkertown library!" said Nancy when she came to the library to claim her Summer Reading prize with her husband who is a big supporter of her reading and library visits. Congratulations Nancy!
