A series of free art classes--An Introduction to Drawing Techniques--is offered at the Walkertown Branch Library. The first session is on Tuesday, February 3rd, 10 am - 12 noon. Learn different drawing techniques from Cheryl Powell, fine artist and graphic designer. She works in pastels, charcoal, and pencil. She will demonstrate each of these drawing techniques in class. The participants will then draw from photos and still life objects.
No previous experience necessary.

An Introduction to Drawing Techniques class will include four sessions on the following dates: Tuesdays, March 3rd, 17th and 31st, 10 am - 12 noon, 10 am - 12 noon.
Each week will be a little different.
Week 1 - Pencil sketching
Week 2 - Ink drawing with Sharpie pens
Week 3 - Drawing with soft pencils focusing on shapes of dark and light
Week 4 - Drawing with charcoal to create shadow and light
Drawing Class Supplies (most available at Michael’s or AC Moore):
Strathmore® 400 series sketch pad 9”x 12” white
Sharpie Pen Fine Point
Kneaded eraser
Vine Charcoal sticks, medium
Pencils: Ebony Pencil.
If you can’t find these, you just need a soft lead pencil with a thick lead and a small pencil sharpener. The artist will bring some supplies to share.
