2012 Running of the Lights

"This event has quickly become a family favorite. There is no better way to spend New Year's Eve than with a group of family and friends running and supporting a great cause!

Start the New Year off on a healthy note! Join us for a night of fun and celebration that ends with a hot chocolate toast to the healthy New Year! This run course is an experience of a lifetime. Runners wind through the park at midnight and experience the Tanglewood Festival of Lights in a whole new way, on foot! This is by far the most scenic run course in Christmas history. It is a Christmas wonderland of lights and action. Don't miss it!

In honor of the holiday season, this event will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. Each participant will be required to bring at least 3 canned goods or non-perishable food items to be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina was founded in 1981 and opened its doors in 1982 to address the growing needs of people seeking emergency food assistance in Northwest North Carolina. Since then, we have experienced dramatic growth in food distribution, operations and programming to better serve our more than 380 partner agencies - and the thousands of people who rely on the food they provide each year. To date, the Second Harvest Food Bank has distributed nearly 90 million pounds of food to non-profit agencies and churches that feed our hungry neighbors in 18 counties.”

Tanglewood Park opens at 10:00 pm for event parking and packet and chip pick-up. All participants must enter Tanglewood Park via the Back Gate (Please see website for directions). The 1.75 mile fun run and walk begins at 11:45 pm with the 3.2 mile run and walk starting at 12:00 midnight!
