NC Author Allison Winfree Pickrell is Coming to Central Library!

You are warmly invited to Central Library to meet North Carolina author Allison Winfree Pickrell! Come and explore her novels rich with wonderfully drawn characters who face the challenges of disabilities and savor the triumphs of successful living, solving a murder here and there along the way. Her books include Unto the Least of These, As Eagles, Den of Lions, and The Last Cordate.

Pickrell will read selections from all four of her inspirational novels. She was born in Winston-Salem, graduated from Reynolds High School and attended Guilford College, where she received a degree to teach disabled children. Going on to graduate school in Tuscon, Arizona, she earned a Masters’ degree in Behavior Disorders and met the man who would become her husband. Allison and Brian Pickrell and his three children moved to North Carolina, where Allison has taught special education in the Iredell County schools for 30 years, retiring in 2006.

Pickrell loved her years of teaching and still managing to find time to fulfill her passion for writing. She wrote five books from 1984-1988. In 2006 she completed a sixth novel, which is been published by OakTara Press. She is presently working on a spiritual novel with her husband Brian.
