We Get By With A Little Help From Our Friends!

Congratulations and welcome to the new executive board of the Friends of the Library for the FY 2010-2011. Our new President is Mr. Joseph Wimmer. Mr. Wimmer is a retiree from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service. Ms. Paula Johnson, a business woman here in Kernersville, is our new Secretary. Ms. Pat Musilek is our new Treasurer. She brings with her a wealth of experience from the Friends of the Valley Forge National Park Library in Valley Forge, PA. Our diligent keeper of the Friends Book Corner in the Library is Ms. Alice Harris. Alice faithfully stocks the corner with books and magazines donated to the Library with an amazing amount of enthusiasm and energy.

The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers who partner with the Kernersville Library. The Friends provide financial support for children’s programming and the purchase of books and equipment. The Friends also sponsor a book club that meets from September to May, the first Thursday of each month. Currently the Friends meet once a month to discuss their plans for programming and other activities which include partnering with other non-profits here in Kernersville on behalf of the Library.

The Friends are always looking for more volunteers who are as passionate about the library as they are. Please feel free to ask at the Circulation Desk for additional information on the Friends of the Library! Membership starts as little as $5.00 a year. Further information on the Friends of the Library can be found on the Kernersville Library website. If you are passionate about libraries and can attend monthly Friends meetings, check the webpage for the date and time of the next meeting.
