Leave Your Mark: The Visual Libraries Project

Hey Kids, Teens & Parents from all over Forsyth County!

July 27th @ 11 am, we will learn how kids in the United Kingdom and South Africa are creatively Leaving Their Mark and how you can, too — in journals that will travel to these places! You can draw, paint, write, or somehow create a page of your own to be included in this journal that will travel around the globe!

Join us for a great end of Summer Reading program and meet some visitors from England who want to share a special project with us! We’ll see a slideshow of lots of great art, and then we will draw, paint, write, any-way-you-want-to and create a journal of our own! Bring your creative and colorful ideas into the Auditorium at the Central Library.

More About the "Visual Libraries" Project

Professors from the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom are here to share about “Visual Libraries,” a project that allows the public at the local public library to write, draw, etc in blank, themed art journals. Forsyth County Public Library has partnered with the Visual Libraries Project in “Leave Your Mark.” This low-cost, low-commitment community art project was recently featured in the Winston-Salem Journal. The professors will discuss the formation of the project, the community impact it has generated, and how it expanded to Winston Salem, NC and South Africa. Examples of these journals will be available at the program.
