4th Thursday Book Club Welcomes Poet Joseph Robert Mills

The 4th Thursday Book Club is celebrating National Poetry Month with Joseph Robert Mills. Join us to talk about poetry and hear our guest poet read from his newest collection, Love and Other Collisions. Joseph Mills grew up in Indiana and, until his early thirties, kept moving farther and farther west, earning literature degrees at the University of Chicago (BA), University of New Mexico (MA), and the University of California, Davis (Ph.D.). As he was working on his third one, his mother asked, “Don’t you know that stuff yet?”

He spent a year in Bordeaux, France where he met his wife, and after living for a couple of years in the San Francisco Bay area, they moved to North Carolina. A faculty member at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts since 1998, his published work includes poetry, fiction, drama and criticism. He has published three volumes of poetry with Press 53: Angels, Thieves and Winemakers; Somewhere During the Spin Cycle; and Love and Other Collisions. In 2010, in addition to teaching at UNCSA, Joseph is a visiting writer at Salem College.

Mr. Mills will be reading from his newest collection, Love and Other Collisions. Please join us for this special event celebrating National Poetry Month and the newest work of a remarkable poet.
