“The Unrestricted Life of Ted Fujioka” on Monday, September 24 at 6 p.m. at Walkertown

Walkertown Branch Library will be hosting a screening of the oral history documentary “The Unrestricted Life of Ted Fujioka” on Monday, September 24 at 6 p.m. “The Unrestricted Life of Ted Fujioka” introduces Ted Fujioka, a second generation American of Japanese ancestry who, along with his family, relocated by government mandate to an internment camp in the Arkansas Delta during the World War II.

Incorporating historical footage, animation, and an original score by Laura Ingram Semilian, this intimate and engaging series of topical interview segments with Mr. Fujioka share his humor, dignity, and philosophical insight through memories of his time spent in camp, his postwar visit to his parents' original home in Hiroshima, his subsequent career as an inventor and artist, and his interpersonal experiences as a Buddhist spiritual mentor.

“The Unrestricted Life of Ted Fujioka” is 42-minutes long. There will be an opportunity to meet the filmmaker, Julian Semilian, ACE (UNCSA, School of Filmmaking), after the screening. His wife, composer and singer Laura Ingram Semilian, who composed the score for the film will be speaking at the event as well.

Julian Semilian is an experimental filmmaker, film editor, teacher, poet, translator, and novelist. He was born in Romania and has been teaching film editing and experimental cinema at the University North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking, for the last 20 years, following a career as a film editor in Hollywood, where he worked on more than 50 movies and TV shows.
