Beth Macy Author Visits Reynolda Manor Branch

New York Times bestselling author Beth Macy is coming to the Reynolda Manor Branch Library and Knollwood Baptist Church to discuss her new book Truevine.

The year was 1899, the place a sweltering hot Virginia tobacco community in the Jim Crow South. Truevine tells the story of George and Willie Muse, African American brothers who were kidnapped and displayed as a freak side-show in circus acts around the country and whose mother embarked on an epic, decades-long struggle to get them back - and to fight for justice for her family.

Though the Muse brothers' narrative heretofore has been surrounded by many unanswered questions, Beth Macy sheds light on what really happened to the brothers and brings clarity to the shroud of mystery around their story.

Beth Macy's visit is in partnership with Bookmarks.
