Explorer Post 975 Wins Camp Grimes “Survival Weekend”

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 975 participated in a law enforcement competition October 17-19 at camp Grimes in Morganton, NC. “Survival Weekend” is held annually, with competitive events that encompass aspects of physical fitness and law enforcement activities. Cardiovascular fitness was measured by team performance of sit-ups, push-ups, running and other timed events. Law enforcement events included felony vehicle stop training and handcuff techniques and overall teamwork.

Explorer Post 975 members trained all year for Survival weekend. Through teamwork, dedication and physical fitness, they placed first overall for the third year in a row. Due to scheduling conflicts only six Explorers were able to attend Survival Weekend this year. The Explorers who participated in the event were: Adam Elmiligy, Javari Anderson, Daniel Coburn, Allie Bagley, Brendalyn Daughtry, and Chase Maney.

Even with only six Explorers they still walked away with three gold medals, four silver medals and four bronze medals. Overall they ended up with a first place finish. We are very proud of the young men and women with their accomplishments and the time they spent training for these events.
