Packing Healthy Snacks: TIP to help pack MyPlate healthy snacks
Snacks can help children get the nutrients needed to grow and maintain a healthy weight. When preparing snacks for younger children prepare single-serving snacks to help them get just enough to satisfy their hunger, but let older kids make their own snacks from the healthy options in the kitchen. Remember that snacks should not replace and meal so keep an eye on the size of the snack. You can save time by storing sliced vegetables in the refrigerator and serve with a dip like humus or low-fat ranch dressing. It is also good to think about convenience; try packing a single-serving container of fat-free yogurt or low-fat string cheese.
