Workforce Development
Access to a talented workforce is the most critical element to economic success in the 21st century. The Community & Economic Development department, through a coordinated effort among industry, education, and local government promotes access to training that provides citizens with tangible and relevant skills and businesses with the talent they need.
The Department of Community & Economic Development, in conjunction with key partners throughout the community, have created the Forsyth Workforce Coalition to respond to current and future workforce needs of citizens and businesses in Forsyth County
- Create a collaborative effort around workforce development
- Analyze uniformed workforce metrics across agencies
- Coordinate business outreach for a unified voice
- Align goals to leverage funding as an entire community
- Focus on industry specific needs that align workforce and economic growth
- Ensure equity through incorporation of individuals with lived experiences

Step 1. Coordinated engagement
Establish industry collaboratives with partners throughout Forsyth County structured via the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Talent Pipeline Management platform.
Step 2. Problem-solve concerns
Discuss difficulties facing the County surrounding in-demand, unfilled occupations.
Step 3. Repurpose employer engagement
Forsyth County staff and partner agencies gain better insight into jobs and training needed.
Step 4. Streamline education
Work together to create more efficient education and training pathways within the sector of focus.
