Tanglewood Festival of Lights Presented by BB&T

Clemmons, NC - Entering its 21st season, the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park will be open nightly from
6:00 pm-11:00 pm starting November 17, 2012 to January 1, 2013. Forsyth County Parks & Recreation is
pleased to announce that Branch Banking and Trust Company (BB&T) has committed to a three year
sponsorship agreement for the Festival of Lights. This sponsorship agreement will begin during the 2012
season.
This season visitors can experience new and interactive musical displays. Music provided for the interactive
musical displays are from original compositions from the UNC School of the Arts Music Technology students.
In addition to new displays, Tanglewood will be creating different scene set-ups with the light displays along
the route to give the show a new feel for our faithful visitors. Also, to make the show more eco-friendly and
brighter, all new displays and majority of the old displays will now feature the low-energy LED Lights. We
encourage visitors to tune their radios to 99.5 WMAG until Christmas to hear the themes of festive holiday
music as they drive through the Festival of Lights.
The Holiday Gift Village, located halfway through the light show route, will feature the Gift Shop, concessions,
and Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Gift Shop will have holiday crafts, wood workings, and other fine gifts for sale
made by over 70 local vendors. For those who like to visit the Gift Shop during the day, it will be open from
12:00 pm—4:00 pm on Saturdays, November 17 and December 18; otherwise, the Gift Shop will be open
throughout the duration of the Festival of Lights. There will be photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus
on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm and on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 pm –
closing. Visitors have the option of paying for tractor-pulled hayrides and horse-drawn carriage rides.

There will be several special events that encompass the Festival of Lights. Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes is
on November 10. Festival of Lights Golf Tournament is November 17. Throwback Nights, which offers
discounted admission rates, are on November 19 -20, November 26-27, and December 3-4. Festival of Lights
on Wheels by Arts for Life is on November 16. Running of the Lights by Setup Events is on December 31st.
Heaven View Christmas Choir will sing at the Gift Village on November 17 and December 8. The RV
Campground will have an extended season from November 17-25. Print Media Night is on November 15 and
Media Night is on November 16.
The cost for the Festival of Lights for a family vehicle is $10 for Monday-Thursday and $15 Friday-Sunday and
on holidays and holiday “eves.” Commercial vans are $20 Monday-Thursday and $25 Friday-Sunday and on
holidays and holiday “eves.” Buses and motorcoaches are $90 every day. This year’s festival will run
November 17, 2012-January 1, 2013. Last year, Festival of Lights attracted an estimate of 263,100 visitors.
