Candidate filing for municipal elections in Forsyth County begins on Friday, July 7, 2023 at noon and ends on Friday, July 21, 2023 at noon. Filing takes place at the Forsyth County Board of Elections office in the Forsyth County Government Center (201 N. Chestnut Street, Winston-Salem). Citizens wishing to run for office in the following municipalities: Bethania, Clemmons, High Point, Kernersville, King, Lewisville, Rural Hall, Tobaccoville, and Walkertown must file their Notices of Candidacy by Friday, July 21, 2023 at noon to be a candidate on the ballot. Candidates may also mail their Notice of Candidacy. We encourage those that prefer to mail their Notices of Candidacy to use this option during the first part of the filing period to ensure that the notice is received timely and can be properly processed. All notices mailed to our office must be notarized and received (not postmarked) by noon on Friday, July 21, 2023.

Candidates for King Mayor and City Council or High Point Mayor and City Council residing in Forsyth County will need to file at the Forsyth County Board of Elections in Winston-Salem. Otherwise, those candidates residing in Stokes County or Guilford County will need to file in their respective counties.

The 2023 Candidate Filing Information document provides details regarding filing for office in the 2023 Municipal Elections. Please contact the Forsyth County Board of Elections at (336) 703-2800 with any questions or for additional information regarding the 2023 candidate filing process.
