Synopsis and Discussion

The statewide open burning ban issued by the NC Forest Service remains in effect until further notice. AQI readings are in the mid Code Green range across the Triad on Sunday. Transient high pressure will influence our weather tomorrow before renewed rain chances return for Tuesday and Wednesday. With a dry air mass in place and plenty of sunshine on tap, ozone readings may approach the Code Green/Yellow threshold before the unsettled weather pares them back on Tuesday and Wednesday. Particle pollution concentrations on the other hand are expected to increase into the lower Code Yellow range as we go toward midweek with forecast trajectories indicating our source region will be an area with ongoing wildfires.
