These rules and regulations apply to all parks, open spaces, trails, and greenways. Specific properties may have additional restrictions or allowances, which will be posted at the property as a supplement

  1. GENERAL SAFETY & VISITOR CONDUCT -
    1. SAFETY – Call 911 in case of an emergency. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Plan and prepare for your visit. Secure valuables at all times.
    2. PARK HOURS – General Park hours are sunrise to sunset. Individual Park hours vary by location. Please refer to individual park pages for information on specific hours.
    3. PARK USAGE AFTER HOURS - Entry and/or use of park facilities after posted park hours of operation will be considered trespassing, and violators may be prosecuted. Exceptions are limited to County-sanctioned after-hours special events, reserved rental facilities, and campgrounds.
    4. FEES – All fees and charges must be paid in advance for the use of any facility or services.
    5. RIGHT-OF-WAY – Pedestrians have the right-of-way.
    6. SPEED LIMIT – Maximum speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.
    7. WEAPONS - are prohibited by County Ordinance and state law except as allowed by general statutes 14-415.23 & 14-269.3(B)(5). Warning: It is a felony to possess or carry a firearm of any kind to a school sponsored activity NCGS 14-269.2(B)
    8. ALCOHOL - Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in all County Parks, unless otherwise posted or specifically authorized by the Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Department.
    9. WILDLIFE / HUNTING / FISHING - It is illegal to harass, harm, or possess native wildlife without the required permits. The feeding of wildlife is prohibited. The release, placement and abandonment of any animals are prohibited.
    10. PROFITEERING - Except for events approved by Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Administration, no person may engage in soliciting, peddling, panhandling and selling. The sale of food and drink products, clothing and any and all other items is strictly prohibited without prior consent.
    11. FUNDRAISING EVENTS - In its sole discretion Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Administration on behalf of Forsyth County may approve spaces or facilities to be used for fundraising events. No event will be permitted without prior written approval by Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Administration on behalf of Forsyth County. Failure to obtain prior, written approval may result in Forsyth County bringing court action against the parties as allowable by law. Applicable fees, park rules, and conditions apply.
    12. GAMBLING - Engaging in and conducting or carrying on any game of chance at which money, property or other items of value are bet is prohibited.
    13. SEX OFFENDERS - No person registered with the State of North Carolina and/or any other governing agency as a registered sex offender shall be within 300 feet of any playground, amusement ride, youth athletic event, swimming pool, or other location where minors frequently congregate.
    14. SWIMMING – Swimming in all natural bodies of water is prohibited.
    15. STAKING – Staking items into the ground is prohibited.
    16. LITTER / TRASH – Littering is prohibited. Visitors shall place all litter and trash into designated trash receptacles. Please help keep our parks clean.
    17. DUMPING - Supplied receptacles are for the disposal of refuse, trash, debris, and litter. Disposal of refuse, trash, or debris outside of the supplied receptacles is strictly prohibited.
    18. QUIET ENJOYMENT - Amplified music is prohibited without a paid facility reservation. Specific facility rules will apply.
    19. TRAILS - All trails are open according to posted park hours. Trail users must adhere to trail designation and associated restrictions. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on trails. Trails may be closed at any time for maintenance activities.
    20. PLANT MATERIAL - It is illegal to remove, damage, or collect any plant, tree, flower, or other natural material from state parks. This includes wildflowers, trees and shrubs, mosses, lichens, and fungi, fallen branches, pinecones, fruits, nuts, and rocks.
    21. EXCAVATIONS & METAL DETECTORS - Making an excavation and/or using metal detectors is prohibited.
    22. PERSONAL GRILLS / COOKERS - Pull-behind grills or cookers are only permitted with prior written approval from Forsyth County Parks & Recreation in conjunction with a facility reservation.
    23. Any person whose conduct or language conflicts with the safety, use, or enjoyment of the park by others is subject to suspension or arrest.
    24. All Federal, State, and local County Codes and Park Rules apply.

  2. RESERVATIONS -
    1. RENTAL RULES & POLICIES - Please refer to the individual park information regarding rules and regulations for facility rentals. Call 336-703-2500 for facility reservation information.
  3. ANIMALS -
    1. All horses, dogs, cats and other domestic animals must be kept on a leash at all times in accordance with local ordinances. Pet owners are required to clean up and dispose of pet waste. Horses are restricted to designated equestrian paths only. Horse trailers must be parked in designated areas. No animals are allowed to enter lakes or ponds, whether on or off leash. Forsyth County Animal Ordinances, Chapter 6 of the Forsyth County Code; Section 6-13.
  4. VEHICLES -
    1. MOTOR VEHICLES - Properly registered and licensed motor vehicles are allowed and must stay on designated park roadways. No off-road driving.
    2. PARKING - Park only in designated parking areas.
  5. FIRES -
    1. FIRES - No open fires are allowed in the parks outside of designated grills, fire rings, or fire pits. Park grills are designed for charcoal only. Fires in designated areas may be prohibited during burn bans issued by state authorities.
    2. FIREWOOD - collection is prohibited in all parks.
  6. CAMPING -
    1. TENT - camping is prohibited in all parks.
  7. SPORTS FIELDS -
    1. All athletic games, practices, scrimmages, including but not limited to, baseball, basketball, soccer, Frisbee, disk golf, ultimate, tennis, and golf must be played on fields, courts, or playing surfaces expressly manufactured, supplied and identified for that specific activity use.
  8. RECREATIONAL HOBBYIST VEHICLES -
    1. UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES / DRONES - Recreational drone use is prohibited. Commercial drone use may be allowed only with prior approval of Parks management.
    2. RC VEHICLES – are prohibited.
    3. MODEL ROCKETS – are prohibited.
    4. UTV’s / SxS / ORV’s / GOLF CARTS – are prohibited.
