The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and the Forsyth County Public Library Board of Trustees dedicated Central Library as the Sylvia Y. Sprinkle-Hamlin Building in a ceremony held on Thursday, July 28 at 11 a.m. Sprinkle-Hamlin served as the director of the Forsyth County Public Library system from 2000-2019. She was the first African American and first woman to serve in that role.

Each Forsyth County Public Library branch location has their own Teen Advisory Board that meets once a month to discuss ways to improve the library's service to teens. Our Teen Advisory Boards help to plan programs, create displays, and suggest resources that the library should purchase. The Forsyth County Public Library's Teen Advisory Boards are made up of our teen volunteers (Ages 12-18). Sign-up for our fall Teen Advisory Boards that meet from September to December is now open.
Our On The Same Page community read returns this year, and we are ready to announce the title that we will read and discuss this fall.
The Forsyth County Public Library will host two North Carolina award-winning YA authors, Amber Smith and Frank Morelli, throughout June, July, and August. Both authors will share with us their writing processes, inspirations, and latest works. Books and book signing will be available at the close of the event. Registration is not required. Ages 12 and up.
