Step Outside Your Reading Comfort Zone With a Reading Challenge

Every year I try to do a reading challenge, a list of books or genres I normally wouldn’t read. I always end up reading something I never would have picked up. March is National Reading Month. It’s also the month that we celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Thus the first reading challenge - to read a children’s book you have never read before. It could be a classic you never got around to - “The Wind in the Willows” or “Hatchet.” You could try something new like “The First Rule of Punk” or “Wonder.” If you’re stuck, ask your local librarian to recommend a book you might enjoy or just browse our digital library for some great titles.

I hope you accept the FCPL Reading Challenge and encourage your family and friends to try it too. Please let me know how it goes and if you get a chance send me an email (fcpl.eg.requests@gmail.com) with the title of what you read.

Happy Reading! Lara Luck, Collection Development Supervisor
