Database of the Month: Jobs & Careers

This month we are highlighting some of the free online tools available to help in your job search. We also have a lot of online resources to help you develop your personal career track or even get you started on a new career path.

Do your research

Researching a trade or industry while job searching will help you narrow in on companies and trends important to the line of work you would like to do.

ABI/INFORM Complete features thousands of full-text journals, dissertations, working papers, key business and economics periodicals such as the Economist, country-and industry-focused reports, and downloadable data. Its international coverage gives researchers a complete picture of companies and business trends around the world.

Hoover's Company Profiles: This database contains proprietary information about more than 40,000 public and non-public companies and 225,000 key executives. Hoover's, widely recognized as a leader in company data, delivers in depth industry analyses, information on a company's location, summary financials, top competitors, top officers and more.

ProQuest Career and Technical Education: ProQuest Career & Technical Education is the definitive source for vocational information. The database includes nearly 600 titles, with more than 500 available in full text for quick access to research on virtually any technical topic.

Whether you are in between jobs or looking to switch to a different career track, brushing up on relevant skills is a great way to help you prepare.
