Synopsis and Discussion
Ozone levels are climbing into the mid code YELLOW range, Thursday, as particle pollution remains code GREEN. High pressure, which has settled overhead, will dominate the weather through Saturday, providing sunny skies, hot temperatures, low humidity, and light winds. The combination of these weather parameters will lead to good ozone production, Friday and Saturday, afternoon and evening. Thus, code ORANGE ozone is forecast for Friday and Saturday, throughout the Triad. Code ORANGE is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, meaning, childern, the elderly, and those with respiratory/heart issues need to limit their outdoor exertion, Friday and Saturday. A backdoor cold front will begin to press into the region, Sunday, providing the next chance of showers and thunderstorms and also helping to push the AQI back to code YELLOW (GENTRY).
