On August 8, 2019, a Celebration of Life service was held for the Honorable H. Thomas Jarrell, Jr (Chief District Court Judge for Guilford County) at the Summit Church in Kernersville. It was estimated that attendance could exceed 2,000 participants. With only one days’ notice, Sergeant Gieger coordinated with Sheriff’s Office staff members, other agencies and church personnel so everyone who attended was able to pay their respect to Judge Jarrell. In addition, Sergeant Gieger ensured the procession moved swiftly, church security was impeccable and family and friends of Judge Jarrell were treated with dignity. Sergeant Gieger represented the Office of the Sheriff of Forsyth County professionally, honorably and empathetically.
