On February 10, 2023, Deputy Holley responded to Union Cross Fire Department to check the welfare of an 18-year-old female who was homeless. She was allowed to stay on the premises until 8:00 pm then she would have to leave. She had been in a hospital in Washington, DC where she was given a bus ticket to stay with a friend in Wilmington, NC. She was not allowed to return to her residence so she had no place to go. For some reason, the bus ticket was not to Wilmington, NC. Deputy Holley called everyone and every organization that he and others could think of to try and get transportation worked out for her but was unsuccessful. As a result, Deputy Holley transported the female to the Greyhound Bus Station in Winston-Salem, NC, and bought her a bus ticket to Wilmington, NC with his own money and without any request or outside influence from the female or anyone else. Deputy Holley was selected as Sworn Employee of the Month for February due to his unselfish effort and how his actions reflect the core humanity and goals of this agency.
