On May 13, 2019, Deputy McDowell stopped a vehicle for speeding. As he approached the vehicle, he smelled the odor of marijuana and noticed a child in the back seat who was not properly secured in a car seat. During the vehicle search, Deputy McDowell located several illegal items in the vehicle. Deputy McDowell’s actions on this day embody the mission of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, “to ensure the security of life and property, prevent crime and disorder and enforce the laws of North Carolina."
