In November, Deputy J.D. Cundiff and Deputy D.J. Pendolino responded to call in a shopping center. The caller advised that someone was sleeping behind the dumpster; the temperatures that night were hovering at freezing with a high wind chill. Upon arrival, the deputies located a homeless person. They exhausted all avenues including local shelters and was unable to find a place for the homeless person to stay for the night. The deputies took it upon themselves to drive the homeless person to a hotel and paid for a room out of their own pockets. The display of humanity shows the character of these two deputies. The deputies went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the homeless person had a warm dry bed to sleep in and a hot shower to get cleaned up. Deputy Cundiff and Deputy Pendolino displayed the true essence of what it is to be a part of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
