September Detention Staff Member of the Month

Private First Class (PFC) D. Ramirez has been employed with the FCSO since September 2010. He is currently assigned to 4C Intake dormitory as a Detention Officer. PFC Ramirez is used in many areas and capacities throughout the LEDC. Due to his training, PFC Ramirez can work in many capacities to include general population areas and Special Housing Units.

On September 21st, PFC Ramirez noticed an inmate acting in a peculiar manner. He spoke with the inmate who said he suffered from mental health and memory issues stemming from a traumatic head injury. During the conversation, the inmate confided he felt he was bothering other inmates by his presence and admitted to having suicidal thoughts. PFC Ramirez contacted his supervisor and the inmate was assessed by medical staff.

PFC Ramirez is commended for taking the time to speak and listen to an inmate who was having difficulty adjusting tho his surroundings. PFC Ramirez diffused a potentially unsafe environment for this inmate and others incarcerated at the LEDC. PFC Ramirez displayed compassion and empathy and his attention to detail is commended.
