Afterthoughts Book Club meets every second Thursday of the month at 11:00 am. The Afterthoughts Book Club generally reads recent literary fiction. Classics and non-fiction books also make an occasional appearance. Popular past book selections include Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloane, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See, and Lila by Marilynne Robinson.
The Six ‘W’s Mystery Book Club (aka Walkertown’s Who, What, Where, When, and Why?) meets every third Thursday of the month at 10:30 am. Walkertown Branch Library’s longest running book club is mystery-focused. Selections include both popular and lesser-known mystery authors. You may discover a new favorite! Recent reads for the Six ‘W’s Mystery Book Club have been Night Whispers by Judith McNaught, New Tricks and Collard (Andy Carpenter mysteries) by David Rosenfelt, White Fire by douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, and Bone Dust White by Karin Salvalaggio.
Along Came a Series Book Club meets every last Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm. This is Walkertown Branch Library’s newest book club that started in January 2018. This club reads from a variety of book series by different authors. The first selections include The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith and Real Murders from the Aurora Teagarden series by Charlaine Harris. Future selections will also be chosen from a mix of different genres.
