School employees started receiving the vaccine as part of Group 3 of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout on Thursday afternoon at Forsyth County Department of Public Health’s mass vaccination site at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Education Building.

NCDHHS will continue to provide Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits for children who would normally receive free or reduced price meals under the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act, to purchase extra food. Benefits will begin to be issued on February 19, 2021 through the P-EBT program.

The B.1.1.7 variant of COVID-19 has been identified in Forsyth County, which has been found to be more contagious, though early research found that it has no impact on the severity of the disease or the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine.
