Small Ruminant Field Day

There will be a Small Ruminant Pasture Field Day, Saturday, August 26 from 9:30 AM until Noon in Advance. This is a wonderful educational opportunity for new/beginning farmers as well as producers with a little more experience under their belt. This field day is an INFORMAL, HANDS-ON educational opportunity for individuals who want to learn more about rotational grazing management, electric fencing, soil testing, soil health, forage varieties, pasture improvement and much more. Even though the focus will be on sheep and goats, producers of other livestock species can gain information from this workshop.

This will be a great resource for individuals looking to begin or have already started a small-scale livestock operation. You will learn how Matt and Kimberly Busse have begun and grown their small ruminant operation with limited resources (land, equipment, time, labor and money). Remember; come to River Birch Farm, 138 River Birch Lane, Advance, NC 27006, on August 26 to learn how to utilize the resources you have and explore ways to gain additional resources to make your plans become reality. In order to prepare enough seating and materials, We request you call in reservations to the Extension Center Davie 336/753-6100, Yadkin 336/849-7908 or email phil_rucker@ncsu.edu by Wednesday, August 23.
