Art Show at Walkertown

Kernersville artist Sandy Talbert will be featured in an exhibit at Walkertown Branch Library through the end of June 2019. Her colorful and vibrant acrylic works reflect her love of nature and include flowers, landscapes and birds.

Talbert spent more than 30 years as an office manager for a Fortune 500 company where she never had the time to fully explore her creative side. After retiring, she began taking art classes at Forsyth Technical Community College including acrylic painting and silversmithing.

Her acrylic paintings are largely reflections of past vacations and anything outdoors that she finds especially pretty or inspiring. According to Talbert, “There is beauty all around us if we take the time to acknowledge it.” She uses photography to capture particular scenes or subjects and paints from her photographs.

An independent artist in a variety of mediums, Talbert is continually interested in new learning opportunities. She prefers to let inspiration occur at its own time and pace. In addition to acrylic painting, she has enjoyed doing beadwork and has developed a more recent interest in paper collage, mixed media and wool felting.

Talbert’s acrylic paintings on exhibit will are available for purchase. She will also be teaching a class on creating a colorful summer-themed collage at Walkertown Branch Library on Tuesday, June 18 at 1 p.m. Call 336-703-2990 to sign up.
