Draft Assessment of Fair Housing Study

The City of Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, and the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem (HAWS) are soliciting comments on a draft Assessment of Fair Housing. This study discusses fair housing issues and affordable housing needs throughout the city and county. It also outlines strategies the City, County, and HAWS plan to take to improve fair housing. The study is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for public housing authorities and jurisdictions that receive community development and affordable housing grant funds.

Public Comment Period

The Draft Assessment of Fair Housing will be available for public review and comment beginning Thursday, July 6, 2017 through 5:00 PM on August 20, 2017.

Public hearings on the draft will be held at the following dates, times, and locations. During these hearings, the City, County, and HAWS will present key findings of the assessment and related fair housing goals, and accept comments on the draft. All meetings are open to the general public:
