Captain Millard Shepherd Retires

Captain Shepherd began his law enforcement career in November of 1986 as a Special Deputy with the FCSO and was hired full-time in February of 1987. He has served in many areas of law enforcement throughout his career, including the Patrol, Community Services, Civil, Criminal Investigations, Sex Crimes, Domestic Violence and Narcotics.

Captain Shepherd was responsible for securing a grant that helped create the first Domestic Violence Unit and played a key role in the establishment of the Safe On Seven Forsyth County Family Justice Center, the first of its kind in North Carolina. A second grant resulted in the creation of a Domestic Violence Investigator, Process Server and Victim Services Specialist positions.

Captain Shepherd is certified to instruct law enforcement training and has taught Victimology at Forsyth Technical Community College. He is also a Victim’s Service practitioner through the North Carolina Victim’s Assistance Network.

Captain Shepherd has been a member of the Forsyth County Domestic Violence Community Council, Governor’s Council on Women’s Domestic Violence Committee and past President of the North Carolina Victim’s Assistance Network.

Captain Shepherd’s knowledge and guidance will be missed and we wish him the best in all future endeavors. Congratulations Captain Shepherd!
