Are Coyotes in your neighborhood?

Speaking on behalf of one of the most persecuted animals in North Carolina, Marilyn McGee has scheduled a talk on coexisting with coyotes for Saturday, April 18, 11:00 a.m. at the Rural Hall Branch Library.

As an advocate for both red and gray wolves, she and her sister Gail McDiarmid spent the last 10 years learning about how these keystone species positively impact the environment. Their research was transformed into the captivating book Running for Home and which has made its way into the hands of readers across the World. (Germany, China, Italy) In addition to co-authoring the book, Marilyn presents outreach programs to demonstrate to others that compassionate conservation and wildlife stewardship is needed in order to live with predators in the wild. This of course, includes the coyote.

As a NC Representative for Project Coyote, she will teach about coyote ecology, the impact of human involvement on its population, and practical ideas to keep domestic pets safe. Participants will be able to examine some of the latest electronic devices that can be used in combination with electric fencing and guard animals to protect livestock.

Mark your calendar today! Keeping coyotes wild and learning about their biological benefits may help residents to appreciate coyotes from a distance.
