Emergency Response Personnel Attend FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute

Staff members from City/County Government, Fire, EMS, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Police, Emergency Management and Red Cross and its partnering agencies and organizations were invited to the National Emergency Training Center (NETC), FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI) in Maryland for a week of training and exercise. More than 70 members of the emergency response community attended, including emergency management, law enforcement, fire/rescue, hospitals, emergency medical personnel, public health, city & county services, appointed & elected officials, colleges & universities and volunteer organizations.

The training provided by FEMA was conducted by subject matter experts from across the United States. These workshops were used to bring emergency response personnel together to help form a unified plan and better equip them for a coordinated response in a catastrophic event. Multiple scenarios throughout the week and the final exercise tested the skills and knowledge of emergency response personnel, the county's Emergency Operations Plan and the operational procedures for the county's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located at the Forsyth County Public Safety Center.
