Saving Seeds for Gardeners with Bill Colvin in Walkertown

Open pollination is the key to seed saving. This program, presented by an Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Bill Colvin will help you to be successful in saving seeds from your garden for use in the next growing season. The differences in heirloom and hybrid seeds, as well as all the positives and negatives of both types of seeds, will be discussed.

Bill Colvin has a BA degree from Furman University and is a Vietnam Veteran. Bill’s professional career was in data processing/information technology for 4 Fortune 500 companies over a span of 30+ years. Bill got his Master Gardener Volunteer certification in 2002, received his 3,000th volunteer hours pin in 2008, and was named Master Gardener of the Year for 2010. Bill worked as a volunteer twice a week for 7 years at the Rierson Greenhouse & Gardens. Bill was responsible for the total redoing of the landscape for First Presbyterian Church in downtown Winston-Salem.
