Graphic Novel and Manga Fans--New at Southside

Check the library catalog! If it's not there yet, it soon will be. A recent gift to the Southside Branch has allowed us to improve and update our collection of graphic novels and manga! Several new manga series are already on our shelves, including:

  • Ayuko’s The Earl and the Fairy
  • Azuma’s Yotsuba&!
  • Kamachi’s A Certain Scientific Railgun
  • Konami’s Chi’s Sweet Home
  • Mori’s A Bride’s Story
  • Mochizuki’s Pandora Hearts
  • Ohba’s Death Note
  • Tanagawa’s The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan
  • Ikeda’s Rosario +Vampire
  • and Okhuba’s Soul Eater.

You’ll also find these must-read classics. Miyasaki’s Nausicaa Valley of the Wind and the acclaimed Hagio Moto’s Heart of Thomas and A Drunken Dream and Other Stories. The ground-breaking Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo. We also have the complete series of six volumes of Osama Tesuka’s Buddha.

Graphic classics we’ve added to the shelves? Neil Gaiman’s monumental Sandman series. Look forward to the upcoming Gaiman titles Death, The Books of Magic, and The Silver Dream: an InterWorld Novel. Guy Fawkes' One Soul, Nicolle Malachai’s Axe Cop series, and Ralph Bryan’s Daybreak also stand out. Look for spectacular art work by Shaun Tan and Doug TenNapel.

Coming this summer? Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori, Kazue Kato’s Blue Exorcist, and Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail. We’re also expecting Nimue Brown’s Hopeless, Maine, Mike Carey’s Sigil: Out of Time, Mike Costa’s Smoke and Mirrors, and Tom Gauld’s Goliath. You’ll be able to read Jeff Lemire’s Sweet Tooth, Roger Langridge’s Thor: The Might Avenger, Makoto Shinkai’s 5 Centimeters Per Second and Barry Lyga’s Mangaman. We already have volumes 1-3 of Shimura Takako’s Wandering Son, and volumes 4 and 5 will be on our shelves this summer.

And there’s more, including many stand alone new graphic novels. We’ve also been able to add titles by some of the most popular young adult fiction writers, L.J. Smith, Thomas Sniegoski, Kiera Cass, ReShonda Tate Billingsley, Ni-Ni Simone, Maggie Stiefvater, and Joanna Philbin.
