June is National Adopt a Cat Month

Each spring and summer, cats reproduce in record numbers, and millions end up in animal shelters. Local shelters are bursting at the seams with cats of every breed, age and personality just waiting for someone to give them a new home.

Nationally, 30% of all puppies and kittens entering shelters arrive in the months of March and April. 30% arrive in May alone. 30% arrive in June and July, while only 10% arrive during the remaining 7 months of the year.

Having your pet spayed or neutered can help prevent this tragedy.

Whether you prefer a cat that's young and frisky or mature and mellow, you are sure to find the ideal cat companion during Adopt-A-Cat month. Once you bring your new friend home, keep these helpful tips handy that will help you enjoy a lifetime of health and happiness together.

Adoption Fee for Cats/Kittens is $89 and includes:

  • Initial medical exam
  • Initial FeLV/FTV screening
  • Initial deworming
  • FVRCP vaccination
  • Rabies vaccination and tag
  • Microchip ID and registration
  • Mandatory spay or neuter
  • Cat license

Top 5 Reasons to Adopt a Cat:

  • COMPANIONSHIP and GOOD FOR YOU
Cats make wonderful companions. They greet you when you get home. They follow you from room to room. And they cuddle on your lap when you are feeling lonely. Cats will lower your blood pressure and help fight depression.
  • GREAT TEACHERS
Cats stay playful, no matter what their age. It's always a joy to watch a cat play with the simplest of toys – even a string will excite them!
  • LOW-MAINTENANCE
Cats can take care of themselves while you are at work, or on a weekend getaway. They never have to be walked, and they bathe themselves.
  • INTELLIGENT
Cats are smart and can learn tricks, like "sit" and "high-five," just like a dog. Many cats can even be taught to fetch!
