Board of Health

The Forsyth County Board of Health is the governing body for the Forsyth County Department of Public Health. The Board of Health has the responsibility to protect and promote public health.

The Board is composed of 11 members who reflect the diversity of the county. By law, the 11 members include: one physician, one dentist, one optometrist, one veterinarian, one registered nurse, one pharmacist, one county commissioner, one engineer, and three representatives of the general public. The members are appointed by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners.

The regular meetings of the Board of Health are held the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Department of Public Health's board room. Meetings are open to the public.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Forsyth County Department of Public Health is to advance policies and practices that promote equality in health, prevent disease, & protect the environment.
