Parks and Open Space Plan
On September 1, 2005, the City-County Planning
Board released a draft of the new Parks and Open Space Plan for public comment and suggestions.
The residents of Forsyth County and Winston-Salem currently enjoy a high quality of life; however, increased growth and development can result in a
reduction in this quality of life if steps are not taken now to protect and expand the community's outdoor recreational and environmental resources.
The community must ensure that our parks, recreational facilities and open space keep pace with population growth and land development.
The goal of the new Parks and Open Space Plan is to provide a system of parks, preserved natural areas and recreational opportunities that improve the
quality of life of residents.
This plan was adopted by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners on November 13, 2006.
