Catalog
The Library’s Online Catalog reflects all of our materials at all our locations,
including virtual items you can check out online. Search for what interests you
at any time. Records from all of our materials will display, and then you can place
a hold to reserve them and pick them up at any FCPL location.
- MultiSearch
MultiSearch is the Library’s own federated search engine. It allows you to search
our catalog along with hundreds of additional resources with one single entry. You
can also take advantage of categories and “clustered” results to clear the way for
your research, homework, or business needs.
- Downloadable Media
Enjoy audiobooks in WMA and MP3 format, eBooks, music, and videos from your Library.
Choose from many popular and informational titles — over 5,000 in all — to browse
and check out. Access is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week!
- Digital Forsyth
Digital Forsyth is the result of a collaborative effort to preserve the history
of Forsyth County in its photographic treasures. The Library is the repository of
slices of history throughout the decades, and through digitization, now those historical
photographs can be shared online.
- Local History / Genealogy
FCPL provides printed, audiovisual, and online resources for your local or family
history research. Prepare to be impressed with the available collections and the
staff that can guide you through them.
- Government Information
The Library is an ideal place to locate all ranges of government information. As
a Federal Depository for United States government documents, we provide access to
a wealth of reports and data. State and local government information is also on
file and ready for you to access. Visit the North Carolina Room and meet with the

- Nonprofit Resouce Center
The Nonprofit Resource Center offers research materials on a wide variety of topics
of interest to the nonprofit sector. This collection is housed at Central Library
and includes a dedicated workstation with subscription access to Foundation Directory
Online.
- Photograph Collection
A very special collection of photographs is housed at Central Library as a part
of the North Carolina Room. Most feature people, events, buildings, and street scenes
of Winston-Salem and surrounding areas, and they date back as far as the late 1800s.
