Big Read Essay Contest
We invite you to
participate in the Big Read Essay Contest, sponsored by Flow Companies, Inc. and the Friends of the Central Library.
Submit a 500-word essay inspired by Ray Bradbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451, answering the question:
In Fahrenheit 451, Montag and others memorize passages from books as a way to save books from
the relentless search of the firemen. What book would you save, and why?
- Essays should be typed in 12 point Arial or Times New Roman
- Please include: name, address, telephone number, email address and category (middle, high, adult)
- Deadline for submissions: October 15, 2008

There will be an awards ceremony with remarks by the Honorable Mayor Allen Joines on Sunday, October 26th, at 3:00 PM at
Central Library. Award categories include:
Middle School (1st-$125, 2nd-$75, 3rd-$50)
High School (1st-$125, 2nd-$75, 3rd-$50)
Adult (1st-$125, 2nd-$75, 3rd-$50)
