General Information
Forsyth County Animal Control is a full service animal care and control agency in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The department has been serving the citizens of Forsyth
County since 1950. In 2006, the department moved to its current location at 5570
Sturmer Park Circle, Winston-Salem NC 27105. Custody and Care DivisionOur caring and compassionate staff provides safe, humane housing for stray, unwanted, abandoned, abused, sick and injured animals. The Custody and Care Division provides a variety of services including:
Patrol DivisionThe patrol division is responsible for enforcing local and state laws concerning animals. Our officers work seven days a week and provide emergency service twenty four hours a day. Animal Control Officers provide a wide variety of services, including:
Officers may issue civil or a criminal citations. They may also issue abatement orders to protect the public from a dangerous or potentially dangerous animal. Forsyth County's animal control officers are very highly trained professionals. In addition to their law enforcement training, they participate in specialized training for animal crimes such as dog fighting and cockfighting, attend national animal control training, receive certification for chemical immobilization and attend annual sheriff’s standards training. Administration DivisionThe Administration Division strives to provide quality customer service to the citizens of Forsyth County. Forsyth County’s Differential Licensing Program is structured to provide incentive to spay or neuter pets. The result is a reduction in the number of unwanted pets in our county.
